I was formerly a professional cook. I worked in restaurants and catering for 17 years. A person gets spoiled cooking with good equipment at work. It can be disappointing to go home and try to cook with standard household equipment, both in efficiency and results. I try to buy the best kitchen equipment I can afford.
When I chose this fryer, I deliberated for days. When it arrived and I examined the device, I was pretty sure I had chosen wisely. The heating elements and mechanisms reminded me of a small scale restaurant quality fryer.
The first time we used it, we had a fish fry for 6 people with fried pickles, onion rings, and ocean perch. Awesome! I was not disappointed. The unit worked flawlessly. The unit comes with two half baskets and a single large basket which were perfect for the different combinations of items we were frying. Our batters were fried crip, the unit maintained good temps, there was no burning, heat was evenly distributed, clean up was easy.
One side note, frying in your home will make your home smell like KFC or Long John Silvers, depending on what you are frying. It will linger for days. I use it outside on the deck to avoid this problem.
The construction is simple and the unit is fairly attractive if you like the look of professional grade stainless equipment. You can't go wrong with this one! Buy it. Buy it now. What are you waiting for? :) |
Great value for the price

Honestly I was a bit dubious of this product initially, considering its price point. But after having used it for the last few months I can definitely recommend it.
Previously I had a Delonghi, which was a great design but did not hold the temperature very well and eventually the drain hose began leaking (oddly they do not sell replacement hoses which is really ridiculous). I had never heard of Aroma before, but figured for this price it was worth a shot. Turned out to be a great purchase.
PROS
Much larger well than some of the other fryers I checked out and allows for the basket to submerge fairly deep. No problem covering the items fully in the oil.
Because of its size, the temperature stays pretty consistent, even when the basket is full.
Heats up fairly quickly considering the size of the well.
Pretty easy to clean, and the design of the well (it separates from the rest of the unit) makes it much easier to drain than I though it might.
Temperature gauge seems accurate
CONS
I HATE the way the timer on this is done... It's handled via a multi-function button, which you can easily screw up when you are in a hurry. No easy way to just put it "3 minutes" and let it go. For some people this will be less of a deal breaker than others, but seriously - I would pay 10 bucks more for the same unit with a real stand-alone easy-to-program timer.
Overall I highly recommend, especially if you do large batches of fries or tortillas. This is a great product for the money. |
Aroma Deep Fryer - Good value for the money

I purchased this item to be used to make french fries at a football concession stand. The unit is easy to operate and has a fairly quick recovery time between batches (about 3 to 5 minutes). One unit can cook about 60 lbs of defrosted french fries in five hours. The procedure I use is two step fry method described in the Joy of Cooking. With the two step method and advance preparation, the unit can keep up with demand when the pre-cooked fries are cooked a second time for only 2 minutes. The fryer is very easy to clean.

Best Deep Fryer Ever

| I received this fryer for Christmas from my husband. I have two other fryers. I wanted a fryer that would allow me to cook more than one item at a time. This fryer is perfect. I used it last night for the first time. We had some friends over and cooked fried Shrimp, Fish, Oysters and French Fries. We used the large basket for the fish and french fries. The smaller two baskets were used for the shrimp and oysters. The cooking oil never burned. The temperture held real well. It only took a few minutes to return to the temperature we had it set on. The maximum temperature it has is 375 degrees which is perfect. Clean up is a breeze. The fryer has the outside stainless steel frame the inside is another non stick removable pan. The heating element and control is all in one and slips in to the inner pan. When you need to clean up all you do is remove the control/element and clean the inside pan. The element sits above the bottom a little so it allows any fish fry or flour to rest a the bottom of the pan below the element. PREFECT. I have to say all the ideas I thought needed to be changed from my old fryers have been corrected with this one. Good Job to the Aroma business. I would highly recommend this fryer. |
Save your time,I researched all of them!

OK,Let me save you alot of time. I am a review nut who does weeks of homework on any product I buy. I MEAN EVERY PRODUCT! I had a Delongi roto fryer,it was my second one,but the second lasted much less time than the first one. They are making them cheaper (quality wise). So I set out to find a better fryer and one that could cook more food. We are a family of three, and had to do multiple batches with the delongi. After dozens I reviewed on line and in the stores,I found this fryer, and I'm SO glad I did!
JUST BUY IT!
It does huge amounts of food, holds very hot temps.,and is very well designed! We love the versitle dual baskets, and the one huge basket.Easy clean, and is nice enough looking to stay on the counter!
Add in the fact that it's from Amazon, and you can't lose! |
Job well done

This is the biggest capacity frier I could find in this price range that had all the good features I wanted. It has a broad temp range, recovers quickly when cold food is put in, dual baskets or 1 big basket, and most importantly a built in thermomiter that is accurate and can see quick temp changes of about 10 degrees. It is much more responcive than my analog fry thermomiter. I especially love the digital controlls.
It is good to get a 5 liter frier even if you are making a small ammount of food because the greater capacity of oil means less of a drop in heat when food is put in. This equates to food that is less greasy. |
Love it

| We love this fryer, have used it several times now, and cooks to perfection. Heats to temp. quickly and recovery time is minimal. We have serval family members that own deep fryers and they couldnt get over how well this one works compared to theirs. They said they are going to buy theirselves one. The unit is quite big, but has lots of room inside for frying which we love for our family of 5. I highly recommend this fryer. Clean up is a breeze once the oil cools. Everything goes into the dishwasher :) What more can you ask for :) |
The Perfect Home Fryer

Good price. An engineering marvel. Holds temp prior to frying plus/minus 10 Degrees Fahrenheit. Large oil volume (1.25 gallons max) assures the thermal mass will maintain temperature a little longer -- even when food is added. 1800 watt power input assures recovery is as quick as it can physically be. 1800 watts is about the maximum that can be drawn from a 15A 120 Volt circuit (make sure nothing else is being used on this circuit). The fryer will draw between 14.6 and 15.0 amps. Best used on a 20A circuit, that is standard in most newer kitchens, to reduce supply circuit voltage drop and provide the most voltage to the fryer.
Greater recovery time can only be obtained with a 240 Volt unit -- and who wants to pay the commercial price for a fryer or has 240 in the kitchen. Shuts off element automatically after the timer counts down to zero and goes into a standby mode. Noted only a minimal drop of temp when food added (30 degrees) and quick recovery to set point. This drop is a function of the quantity and temperature of the food added (as with any fryer).
Looked at 230 vac/50hz European models. While they may be usable at our 240/60hz for the heating element, the electronics may have a problem, so just decided to get the Aroma model. Oil immersion element is the best and quickest way to transfer heat to oil compared to fryers that heat the pan.
Current temperature and set point are displayed with a 5 degree resolution. Current temp is displayed as the default and shows the rise and also the drop in temp as food is inserted (unlike some that apparently do not want you to see this). Pressing the time/temp easily changes the current display of temp to either set point or time remaining. Super easy to use this multi-function mode of current temp/set point/timer.
Timer and Temperature set point can be changed at any time. Time can only be started after set point is reached as indicated when green light flashes -- and this is the way it should be. If you do not want to time -- do not press the START button after reaching temperature and unit will control temp forever (I think).
Easy to clean (furniture polish removes fingerprints off stainless steel). All parts, including the 3 baskets, handles, and cord store internally (this is also the way it was packed in the original box). Easy oil pour into a strainer over one of the 4 corners (no valves to leak).
Cons: 1) not having the count down timer visible while it is timing -- since current temperature is always shown. It can, however, be shown with just the press of the temp/time button. 2) "At temperature" and "frying cycle complete" alarms not loud enough.
One user reported being able to see when the temp had decreased (after turning off) so the oil can be safely removed, but current temp is not shown in the off/standby mode. One has to again activate a new heating cycle temporarily. |

| My wife loves to cook with this fryer. The size will accommidate nearly anything. However, plan to fill with 1-1/4 gallons of oil. Clean up is great. The heat heating element lifts out to allow easy cleaning. The hanging baskets allows the food to drain into the fryer to minimize mess. |

| I purchased this fryer on the basis of its Amazon reviews. A previous deep fryer I bought did not come close to the maximum stated temperature of 375 degrees, so it went back to the store. This was my second and successful attempt to get a fryer that really does heat the oil to the temperature you need to get nice, crispy vegetables. It was very easy to figure out the directions and clean up was simple. I am happy. However, I have only used this fryer two times. I don't yet know if it is also durable. |

| I gave this to my husband for his birthday because he loves fresh cut fries and always bemoans the fact that most restaurants don't have them. Now he can make his own! So far he's made fried shrimp, donuts, and french fries, and they've all come out beautifully. We used canola oil and I was so impressed by the non-greasiness of the foods we made with it. The temperature gauge is very accurate and also will let you know if the oil is cool enough to pour back into the bottle (if you're recycling; we do, and it hasn't affected the taste of the later fryings). I highly recommend it! |
I'm glad I bought this one

| After a lot of debating over which deep fryer I should buy, I chose this one because the reviews seemed more consistent with each other. I'm quite happy I bought this one, there are never any problems with temperature control and it's big enough to fry a meal for the family in. The dual baskets are pretty handy. I love the way you can move the basket in and out of the oil without having to lift off the lid, making it less likely to get burned in the process. It's really easy to clean and it's cute, fits right into the atmosphere of the kitchen. I've used it almost daily for the last 4 or 5 months and have had no problems. |

| My boyfriend and I bought this fryer as a birthday gift for his father. Very impressed with it. The two smaller baskets and 1 large basket made it very easy to make all the things we wanted to right after each other. Made two different types of fries in the smaller baskets and bloomin onions in the large basket. Very excited to see the recipe booklet that comes with it too. All in all, it was a great purchase and my boyfriends father was very pleased with his gift. |

I bought this deep fryer because of all of the good reviews it received,
and because it came with a large basket along with the two smaller baskets.
I like the digital gauge that gives you the temperature of the oil as it's
rising to the desired level. We've had this fryer for about a month
now, and if I was going to buy another one, I would buy this one again.
We are very pleased with it, and I have no complaints with it.
I would recommend this deep fryer if you're thinking about buying one.

| I am a college student moving into an apartment and bought this fryer to make some of my favorite foods (WINGS!). After using it to make a huge batch of wings that came out restaurant quality, I knew this was a good buy. All of the foods I have cooked so far have come out great, and the price cannot be beaten. When I was shopping around for a good deep fryer, I was a little nervous at buying this one as well as many others because many people said that it could not hold a temperature very well. However, all of the deep fryers in this class cannot hold a temperature well. My advice is to go ahead and purchase one because even though the temperature drops, the food still comes out the way you want it every time. |
A Great Buy
