First off, this is my first deep fryer so I can not compare this to others which Im sure are very good as well.
I recived this Hamilton Beach deep fryer as a gift being I have been getting intrested in fried foods at home.
I really enjoy this fryer alot. It is built very well. Very easy to operate too. It heats up nicely and even has a timer.
Just a note, the timer dosn't turn off the fryer when done, which isn't a problem with me at all. The only thing I see is that the battery for the timer appears to be incased and cant replace if it goes out, but it really seems to be working perfectly.
This fryer is not only easy to set up and use, but cleaning was a major concern to me before getting any fryer. This thing is very easy to disassemble and clean.
Nice deep basket. I had alittle problem with my beer battered fish and chicken sticking to the bottom of the basket after I pulled a batch, but this has nothing to do with the fryer, its just learning the technique. I'm only stating this for anyone else intrested in purchasing a first time fryer. But the basket for this one is very easy to clean and pretty deep so you can get a decent load of food per batch.
The food fries up very quickly too. My chicken and fish come out cooked just right, staying tender and juicy by following the directions that accompany the manuel/recipe book that comes with this.
If I ever needed to get another fryer for what ever reason, although this is my first one, I wouldn't hesitate to get another like this. I am really very happy with this. Simple, gets the job done, and not alot of whistles and bells you never end up using.
Also, I have noticed it is insulated very well too. The metal sides don't get real hot, although I would never recommend trying to lift or move it when in operation. The oil really gets hot like its supposed to, and the cover is really nice keeping it all contained when in use.

For the price, this is the best Deep Fryer on the market. Very well constructed and not lacking in quality materials used in its design. Just wish, instead of the glass window on top, they would have put a hinged or slideing door on it; so you could peek into. As the window
'Fogs Up'... We also set ours up on the 2 eyes of our Stainless stove & let our vent hood; pull the smell through it. It is also very Maintenance friendly to clean up and store. If I were in the market for another deep fryer, I wouldnt hesitate a moment, to re--purchase this 1. |

| Excellent product. I have cooked wings, fries, homemade onion rings, chicken cutlets, vegetables. Everything I have used this for has been flawless. Heat up time for this unit is pretty quick and I have no complaints. Very satisfied. |

This is a great item. It needs less than a gallon of oil and is perfect for family use. The oil reaches 375F in less than 10 minutes and the fryer also comes with a nice feature: a low resistance electric cord that will unhook from the fryer if the cord is accidentaly pulled (by kids playing or whoever) to prevent the unit from falling or oil from spilling
It has a dial temperature selector, sturdy and easy to operate, and a timer, which i do not use. The timer does not connect/disconnect the fryer, it just beeps when the preset time is up .
I highly recommend this product.
Simple, sturdy, without tons of electronics that may malfunction.

| For a single user, this deep fryer impressed me out of the box. I wanted a nice wire basket, a timer and good temperature control. Cleaning and ease of use was a plus. First time use I found I didnt have enough oil to fill up to the minimum line. But once I purchased enough peanut oil everything started out as expected. I wanted to deep fry perch (my favorite) but started with chicken fingers. They were done to my complete satisfaction. So far everything is quick and easy to deep fry.The one thing that could have been better is the cord. Although the magnets in the connector is strong enough to do the job. It doesn't take much to cause the cord to come off the deep fryer. I know its a safety feature but would have liked to have the option to not have a magnetic cord. |

Got this fryer as a gift from my dad. I will let you all know that the oil pan is a deep 1/3 hotel pan so if you need to replace it just get one of those at a restaurant supply store and put 96oz of oil in it (2x48oz of canola oil at my walmart were 2.84ea).
Now about the fryer itself... the handle on the basket could be a little sturdier (so could the basket itself honestly) as the way to attach and detach it is to squeeze the forks together and lift/lower/insert/remove it. The little angles of metal that hold the forks could be a little longer so as to hold the handle a little more securely.Not a huge complaint by any means just a suggestion.
The only real issue I have so far is the cord. It's about 18" long and the magnets that hold it onto the fryer are so weak you could literally drop a hot wing on it and it would fall off. I know its there for safety but with such a short cord you almost dont need the magnetic release. Plus the actual plug portion where it plugs into the fryer is about 2" long with additional room needed to keep the cord from bending against a wall and causing it to disconnect. So as long as you can keep the back of the fryer 6" from the wall (probably a good idea in the first place) you will be fine.
Heating to 375 was almost exactly 10 min (for a gallon of oil thats pretty quick really)... cooking some home made chicken nuggets and some fries was quick and easy. Nuggets took 2-3 min and fries took 1-2min so all told I had a plateful of fries and nuggets in 15 min from turning on the fryer from a cold boot. Even with the ready light off 90% of the time while cooking the food still cooked quickly and was dry (as in not oily) when I sat down to eat. Dry food from a fryer is indicative of a high cooking temp so even if the oil wasnt 375 exactly while cooking it was still hot enough to leave the food perfectly cooked and not greasy. The fries and nuggets were crispy and just outstanding tasting... ate almost half a bag of fries (walmart seasoned fries are about 1.65 for a 2lb bag) in one sitting!
Overall this fryer is nearly flawless and only the two things mentioned above plus maybe some insulation around the oil pan to keep the sides cool to the touch keep it from being the perfect fryer. I used to be a fry cook in a popular restaurant in upstate NY and I really had no issues with this fryer once I got cooking (pardon the pun). |

This is our first deep fryer and we couldn't be more satisfied. Does exactly what it says it will do.
The only thing I don't like is the magnetic power cord but I guess it's worth the safety factor. |

| We are very pleased with the Hamilton Beach Deep Fryer. We already owned one and thought a 'double' fryer would be good. But, we purchased an inferior product first that one side quit working, and the other side shorted out. We decided the best thing to do if we wanted two separated thermostats and baskets was to just buy a second Hamilton Beach. We did and the Hamilton Beach is a very good product. 3 of us in the family have done the same thing and we just made our own double fryer with two of these that we know we can trust. |

| This is a little slow to heat up and does not show the temp.That is why it is only 4 stars. Otherwise it is roomy and cooks very well. We have used it for french fries, pizza pops, and chicken wings. I am happy we bought it. |

| I have only used it once, so far, and it did a great job. My grand-daughter and her friends really enjoyed the chicken strips and french fries that I cooked in it. I gave 4 stars because it is a little difficult to empty and clean. I didn't like waiting so long for everything to completely cool down either. I should have expected that though. |

| I purchased this fryer, never having used one prior, because of its 12-cup capacity and for how easy to use it was made to seem. It has the timer, viewing window, claimed to be very simple to clean. While these claims aren't exactly untrue, with the money you're spending, these features are pretty standard. There are cheaper fryers that function more like deep buckets to put oil in but this is certainly several steps up from that. Though, the truth is that its just a basic fryer. Clean up (as you might imagine) is a bit of a pain if you're using this on a semi-regular basis. And, frankly, you NEED to use it on a pretty regular basis in order to get your money's worth. The 96 oz. of oil needed to get this thing going makes it an expensive novelty if only for occasional use. I do enjoy this fryer; it keeps its temperatures well, the green "ready" light also (possibly incidentally) lets you know where the temperature level is at, roughly, by flashing on when its reached its set temp. Its easy to set the temperatures, the guide that comes with this is actually really helpful on setting things to the right temps (the little cookbook section isn't bad either). One note on temps: the older the oil is the lower you'll want to place temps. Hamilton Beach's suggestions are helpful but not the law, play around with cook times and temps as the oil gets older. One interesting note about its quality design: I recently, softly dropped the lid and it is now permanently misshapen. Its felt solid otherwise, just odd such a small ding would leave a large impact on aluminum. Other than that, again, its easy to use, can be a great time-saver, but does just what it should for $50. I would disregard the bells and whistles and see it for what it is: an entry level fryer. |

This Hamilton Beach Deep Fryer was my first deep fryer. What attracted me to it the most was the low price (when I bought it. Thanks Black Friday!), and all though it is perfectly serviceable, after using it a few times I wish I had done a bit more research and gone with a model that was perhaps more expensive but overall more functional.
As far a simple deep fryers go, it has all the necessary features. The pieces are all separate, making for easy cleaning. The power cable is a magnetized quick-release that prevents any tripping of the cord resulting in a downpour of hot oil. The heating element goes directly into the oil, heating up the oil first instead of heating up the metal which then heats up the oil. All of that is pretty good.
The analog dial lets you chose only four temperatures, 300, 325, 350 and 375 degrees. This isn't too different from deep fryers like the Presto 05462 Digital ProFry Immersion-Element 9-Cup Deep Fryer which claim to be "digital" but still only allow you to select from the four pre-set temperatures. I have seen others that give you far more control over your temperature, but you get what you get here. There is a small digital timer you can set, which is basically the same as a cheap stop watch and gives you a little beep when it times down. Not a bad function, but nothing exceptional.
Everything fries in here just fine, and I don't have any complaints there. I did have some trouble with my beer-battered fish sticking to the basket, but I think that is more a matter of cooking skill and familiarity with the proper oil levels rather than a problem with the machine itself.
One of my biggest problems with this model is that it is just too small. I wanted to make hand-made fish and chips for a party of four, and the capacity of this fryer just isn't up to it. By the time I got done frying the fish, the potatoes had gotten cold and needed a quick dunk back in the oil to get them hot and crispy again. The size is probably fine if you are just doing a few fried things to go along with a meal, like if I wanted to fry up some french fries to go with hamburgers, or maybe a few bulbs of deep-fried garlic, but if you want to do a whole fry-themed meal for friends then it is a bit small.
If I could do it again, I think I would have gone with the Aroma ADF-212 Smart Fry XL Digital Dual Basket Deep Fryer, which doesn't cost too much more but delivers quite a bit more in flexibility and function.

This fryer isn't completely terrible, but it's tiny. 3 liters isn't quite enough if you ask me. You should shoot closer to 5 liters to be more useful. This thing can't take much more than a small handful of fries at a time.
On top of its small size there's the fact that the outer chassis gets extremely hot. Having the ceramic container for the oil separate from the metal exterior is supposed to prevent the fryer from getting dangerously hot on the outside, but this design fails horribly.
Overall the product is kinda cheaply constructed, and the parts don't fit as snugly as they should.
On the positive side of things, it preheats pretty quickly, it's affordable, and it does a good job of frying what small amount of food actually fits in its tiny basket.
If you're looking for a home fryer you should try to find one that can hold at least 5 liters of oil, stays a little cooler on the outside, and has a digital control that goes up to AT LEAST 375 F.

| I was really looking forward to getting this deep fryer! My boyfriend is a chef and he said this one would be perfect for us to use to make some delicious food, even easy enough that I could use it (I have zero skills in the kitchen...). However stupid Amazon people sent us a food processer instead...I called to have it returned, but I was going to have to pay for shipping and they weren't going to send me this deep fryer after the exchange. They were just going to refund my money and I'd have to order it ALL over again!! F that. Anyways...my boyfriend said the food processer is worth more than $60 so we're keeping it! :-) |
